Episode 10 begins at the Tolerance festival. Antonia has brought her zombie vampires, which includes Eric and she commands them to kill the King. Eric makes his way to kill Bill but Sookie jumps on top of him and distracts him long enough for Bill to shoot him with a silver bullet. This slows him down just a bit and Sookie puts herself between him and Bill, begging Bill not to harm him. Eric comes back at full strength though and is just about to end Bill’s reign when Sookie, in a panic that she might lose Bill, unleashes her fairy powers on Eric. I am not sure what she thought would happen to him which makes me a bit hot under the collar but all it actually does is break Martonia’s spell. Eric’s memories come flooding back to him.. INCLUDING his love affair with Sookie. Woot! Eric is back!!!

This is definitely an interesting twist. In the books Eric had no memory of their time together but apparently Alan Ball is changing that up. Not sure what I feel about it at this time, especially in light of what goes down just afterwards. But the look they share as he remembers was oh my Godric good. Their faces speak volumes… Sookie is unsure where she stands with him and Eric is waking up from a fog to find himself in love. Yes, he may have cared deeply for Sookie but IMO it was not quite “love” yet or at least he was not admitting that to himself. Now he get this head rush of memories and finds that not only did he spend the past week making love to Sookie but holy shit… he LOVES her and he is bonded to her. But on the flip side most of the memories we saw were of Sookie throughout the seasons so there were definitely some substantial feelings there pre amnesia. Perhaps his look of incredulity was more about finding out he got what he has wanted for a long time, Sookie!
This is confirmed at the King’s mansion when they get to sit down and chat. Sookie is hesitant to be close to Eric again and he has to comfort her and help her understand that he is still the same guy, only more. AE is still there inside him and he asks Sookie to look in his eyes and see him there. She sees the truth in these words and smiles.
Eric: I haven’t changed. I’m just… more. The other Eric is still here. Sookie, look at me. Can’t you see him in my eyes?
She is safe with Eric.. just as she was in the days previous but that is not what is bothering her. When Eric asks what he problem is she tells him it is Bill. When Eric was about to kill Bill she realized how much she still loved him and can’t bear to be without him. Eric looks a little angry at first to hear these words and he tells her that she gave herself to him.. she is HIS. Sookie begs to differ though. She never promised that and then in what can only be an attempt to bait Eric she reminds him that he gave himself to her as well. I think she thought he would be regretful of this “lapse”. Eric the bad ass, arrogant, aloof, vampire Viking God does not let his emotions hang out there for all to see but he throws her a curve ball. He admits that he did give himself to her because he LOVES her.
Sookie: You gave yourself to me completely.
Eric: Yes, I did. I love you.
Amnesia Eric meshed together very nicely with BAMF Eric and even with his memories back at his disposal the Viking still loves his faery princess.
Pam interrupts them and Eric does his best to comfort his “child” but he keeps looking back at Sookie with a totally crushed look on his face. It must have been so hard for him to open up and share his love for her only to have her throw her feelings for Bill in his face and claim she loves him too. He tells Pam they will have to talk later and he leaves the room.
When Sookie overhears Bill talking about blowing up the Moon Goddess Emporium she runs in and confronts him with the details that Tara and other humans are in that building. Bill doesn’t much care and Eric makes few snide comments as well because he is hurting. Sookie sees that Bill is ready to let her friend die in the name of war and that she cannot exactly appeal to Eric after the bomb she just dumped on him or expect him to disobey his King, so she leaves to enlist help from her brother.
Later we see Eric and Pam locked up in Bill’s cell, silvered to prevent a witch’s curse motivating them to seek sunlight. They banter with Nan a bit, which was hilarious and then at the end of the episode they get out of a black van dressed in SWAT gear.. ready to attack the coven.
Last week we discussed who Sookie will choose and some of the rumors flying around. I don’t even know what to think now that Eric has all his memories and has owned up to loving Sookie and wanting to continue his relationship with her. I will be darned pissed if she chooses Bill. Not only has he not earned back her love after all his transgressions against her, he is now making decisions that will get her friend killed and not caring one iota about how she will feel about that. Eric is in a difficult position to. If Sookie chooses him will that be enough for Eric? The man is completely in love with her but she has admitted that while she does love him, that love is not his alone. Will he want to start his life with her knowing she loves Bill too? I am thinking that would be an almost impossible pill for Eric to swallow.

I can’t help but be a little disappointed in the episode. I think AB’s still stuck on the Bill/Sookie romance and will make all of us who love our Viking choke on it a little more! I was ready to slap Sookie myself for telling Eric she loved Bill too right after he declared his feelings! I mean, come on! I’m really really hoping the last two episodes go well for Eric and Sookie, but we’ll have to wait and see…..

This “I still love Bill” crap drove me absolutely nuts. Hello Sookie! Didn’t you just find out like, a week ago, that Bill got you beat up, seduced you, was meant to procure you for the Queen, spied on you, refused to help Tara when she was being raped by Franklin, tried to kill the new man in your life (TWICE), threw you off his property and threatened you with arrest if you trespassed?
Sookie must not have a SHRED of self-respect if she even thinks of going back to Bill.
I said it before on another thread, but if that’s the way this goes, I’m outta here. I’m pretty damn sick of AB pissing on the books because of his infatuation with Bill. Bill is OLD NEWS! I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. The least he can do is remain faithful to the general narrative of the story. Sookie and Bill are over at the end of Book Three and there’s no going back for them. Ever.
But that look that Eric gave Sookie as he remembered EVERYTHING- priceless. I’m still thinking about that this morning. Pleased as punch that BAMF Eric remembers that love he felt for Sookie. That is a weird curveball and I’ll miss all the interplay between Sookie and Eric next season when she remembers what he’s forgotten… but at least the choice Sookie makes in the last two episodes will be a real choice because the man she loves is still there!
Of course, she could pull a Kelly Taylor and choose herself…

I read somewhere, not sure if it is reliable, but that Sookie will choose Bill but regret that decision. I have a feeling she will go to Eric but he might reject her at this point.

I can see Sookie choosing Bill and regretting it. She is seriously lacking in common sense right about now. I can also see Eric rejecting her after her total lack of regard for his love and their bond. As for Bill killing Gran I would LOVE to see it go down that way but I have my doubts AB would ever do that. Bill would be forever removed from the love triangle because who could ever forgive the murder of their grandmother? I can’t see AB closing the door on Bill.
I think what she told Eric about loving bill was bill’s blood talking, not Sookies real feelings, and she will regret it sooner than later!!
My heart sank last nite. Just by the look on Eric’s face crushed me. As was mentioned about Eric still loving Sookie even though she still loves Bill, but what about Bill, will he take Sookie back even with her still in love with Eric, remember the look on his face in the beginning of the episode when Eric got his memory back, Bill was pissed. I pray she picks neither and season 5 will be Quinn or Alcide and then somehow, someway she will find her way back to Eric and Bill can move onto somebody else.
I am completely unsurprised.
AB & TB Sookie have been such disappointments this season, I saw this coming a mile away.
As for Eric, I still firmly believe he loved her all along. The spell just gave him the permission he needed to show that, and now that he knows they’ve been together, he has nothing holding him back. He’s telling her how he feels. But this is nothing new, no great revelation, at least on his part. The shock that was on his face during that scene is because he can’t believe it actually happened. He was actually with Sookie, totally and completely, something he’s been fantasizing about for well over a year now. It’s the same stunned reaction we see in Book 5, where he makes Sookie repeat herself a couple times before he starts to process what happened between them. But he already knew he loved her. He didn’t know if she loved him.
And she tells him she does, but then immediately sticks the knife in by saying she loves Bill, too, which is such complete horseshit, I’m loathe to even address it, but whatever.
TB Sookie found out less than a week ago that Bill was sent by his Queen to procure her by any means necessary. That in order to accomplish this objective, he arranged for her to be beaten within an inch of her life by drainer trash so he could force her to guzzle a gallon of his blood, and thereby become infatuated with him. That he manipulated her into falling in love for the first time, and even took her virginity in an attempt to tie her further to him. That even after he claimed to love her back, he didn’t love her enough to be honest to her about why he came to Bon Temps, his involvement with the Queen, or the fact that she was in danger from both the Queen and Russell Edgington / Franklin / other vampires because of what she might be. He kept her in ignorance of what he knew all this time, while as soon as Eric figured it all out, he let her know at once.
And, to repeat, she found out about this last week. The year in Faery was fifteen minutes for her. So she should loathe Bill now. Sure, he gave her some blood last ep. But she should be savvy enough about the vampire world, not to mention relationships, to know that one pathetic sex fantasy does not mean you’re in love with the guy.
My favorite scene the whole episode was Pam’s reunion with Eric. Pam doesn’t cry, and Pam doesn’t thank humans for anything, but she did both last episode, she was so grateful to have her beloved maker back. And the way Eric, even in his crushed state, still took the time to comfort his child, the kiss on her forehead? That is the relationship I love most on this show. Mutual appreciation and devotion.
Sookie doesn’t deserve that, because she can’t give it.
I read that in the end, Sookie regret telling this to Eric, and will seek to tell him that she loves only him, but Eric refuses, not wanting to be “second table plate” of anyone, Sookie runs out of either of them, and consoling with Alcide
I’m outraged!! How can she say she loves bill?? After living and loving the magnificent Viking??
I gasped outloud when Eric got his memories back. The look he gave her took my breath away. I always loved the book scene when he remembered (sitting on her bed, smelling her scent). I am okay with Eric remember sooner than later, it fast fowards to what eventually happens. The scene at Bills house between Sookie and Eric was hard to watch. AS did a great job in blending AE and BAMF Eric, showing his tenderness and his anger “You are MINE”. Sookie saying she still loved Bill was like a slap in the face, but I liked that she prefaced it that she loved Eric and did not want to lie to him. I would of been one crazy woman if she did not acknowledge her love for Eric. She didn’t say she wanted to be with Bill, but she still has that love for him, which WE all wish she didn’t. But in TB time, it has been a week or so since she found out about Bill’s betrayal and it will take her more time to work through all of the emotions. She tells Jason the next morning that it takes time if the love ran deep. So ultimately I understand what she said. I think she ends up by herself at the end of the season. I know that AB uses a lot of artistic freedom when it comes to Harris’ book adaptations, but Sookie is alone in DTTW and DAAD.

In my obsession with True Blood I visit many message boards and I swear, if I have to hear one more time that Sookie only wants AE I am going to scream. Sookie’s attraction to Eric was well established in Season 1, well before any blood was ingested on her part. At the FOTS church, Sookie releases Eric from the silver chains, much to Bill’s dismay – again before any blood. In Season 3 Sookie dreams about Eric and asks when the effects of his blood will wear off and he tells her it is not the blood – she has feelings for him. She seeks him at Fangtasia and they kiss. After the whole “selling her out to Russell” episode, she runs outside to save his life. This doesn’t seem like Sookie hated Eric. AE was only a means for her to feel safe about expressing her feelings for him. Her dream last weak was of BAMF Eric, thus reinforcing the fact that she has feelings for him. I just think that Sookie is a weak woman who can only be with men that she feels she can control.
The other thing that makes me want to scream is people saying AE isn’t real and that real Eric is so terrible and did so many bad things to Sookie (which she harps on all the freakin time)! Throughout the series we have seen Eric’s tenderness – with Pam, Godric and Sookie. Considering he is not a “wear my heart on my sleeve” type of person, this makes it all the more meaningful. He also did not have an ulterior motive like Bill. As far as AE not being real, well real Eric was back this episode and he himself said that he is still there (because he was always there IMO). And what exactly has Eric done that was so terrible to Sookie? He made her read someone’s mind? He paid her very well to work for him? He saved her at the FOTS church? Yes he played her when it came to Russell but ultimately it was to save them all. Otherwise they all would have been dead. He did keep Laffy in the dungeon but Laffy broke a big vampire rule by selling V. On the other hand we have described Bill’s transgressions on this board many times.
I think Sookie will choose Bill (as discussed previously, WTF?), regret it, turn to Eric and have Eric reject her! Ha ha. Maybe this will set up the storyline for next season in having her deal with her feelings for Eric. I can also see all the Bill fans saying that Eric has no problem blowing up the moon goddess emporium (neither does Bill) and that as soon as Sookie hurts his feelings he is back to his old ways. Well after the way she treated him, I don’t blame him. I’m glad Eric remembers everything – I think this makes for a more interesting story. I sure do miss his cocky attitude – something we got a glimpse of last night. Ultimately I think Sookie/Eric fans want to see her with BAMF Eric, not AE.

JoJo, well put! Sookie telling Eric that her loving both him and Bill is all chemical b/c of the blood they both fed her is a huge bull shit! She is in denial – she had feelings for the Viking well back when, even before she got to take a few drops of his blood in Dallas.
I do hope Eric rejects her, so she could taste her own medicine. I hope AB does not set Eric to be the worse vampire and man to Sookie to justify her running to Bill. If she defies the bond and their love, she will hurt Eric just as much as she hurt him already by throwing her love for Bill into his face. Priceless moment: Eric says she gave herself to him completely, she goes “I never promised that. And you gave yourself completely to me.” She expected him to go back on his word, and Bam! he delivers right back at her, “Yes.” No denial, “I love you.” She has nothing to counter that statement with.
Stupid! Can’t fathom why they would write those lines for her. Where is the womanly logic? The ability to smooth rough edges? Why can’t she say, “give me time to figure things out?” Why can’t she give him some hope? No woman – especially the one who claims she loves – will to that to her love interest.
I am Eric’s fan, won’t hide it. I wish for him to be happy with or without Sookie. I am afraid AB will not give us that, but I still hope that the next season we’ll see the Eric we have just seen – “…more.” More to his personality and history. He has a great potential for the show, and seeing how Alex S has grown as an actor throughout the show is very gratifying. His few lines to Sookie had my heart breaking and my gut wrenching. He made me hurt for him. Sookie made me feel ashamed for all women.
It didn’t surprise me at all that Eric got ALL memories back at once. AB had to come up with something to eliminate three books’ worth story in SVM.
Totally agree…I think it’ll come down to a “Sophie’s Choice” moment. She’ll choose Bill, and he’ll reject her or do something jerky. Eric will also reject her because she betrayed him. So that will free her for a rebound.

HOWEVER, as angry as I was, my heart did a leap and a bound when he finally admitted his love for her. I also loved the moments the writers used to in the regaining of his memories..nearly all Sookie, and of course the way he looked at her when he had finally come out of the fog. I agree with your recap..he looked like a man who was head over heels in love and i think it took him by surprise. of course, i also loved that he remembered his time with her..i was seriously curious as to how they were going to pull off that aspect. As much as I love good angst, I am a romantic at heart and so that whole conversation with him was just PERFECT..though heartbreaking.
I will say this…she DID say she loved him. so as much as i was disgusted with her when she starting spewing about the queen, that little moment when she said she loved him and reached for him was what saved her from a RIGHTEOUS tongue-lashing from yours truly.
the suspense for the last 2 eps is killing me…I’m really going to have to immerse myself in my school work to get my mind off of it.
all in all, FLAWLESS character development for Eric and of course, like this whole season has proved, acting perfection from Mr. Sexgard, I MEAN! Skarsgard!
I’m with you but…we have to cut Sookie some slack the poor girl just came back from fairy like 2 weeks ago? I lost time…LOL! then finds out that really has been a year…Bill looks that move on, Eric bought her house, Eric looses his memories, She is in charge of protecting him, etc. Then like that is not enough she gets shot and Queen Bill gives his blood to her again!!! We need to remember this is vampire romance not Fabio romance novels. I know people are going to compare book Sookie with True Blood Sookie but…when book Sookie was with Eric she didn’t have Bill’s blood anymore. True Blood Sookie in the other hand just recently had Bill’s blood again. Whatever feelings she had dormant inside of her for Bill were wake up. So like she said in her dream…”Isn’t my fault…he gave me his blood” Is too soon for her not to love Bill…but believe me she is getting there. You can’t love two people at the same time with the same intensity. Bill will always be her first everything…and Eric will be always her real soulmate. Just my opinion.

First of all this so called “treesome” dream was IMO a “third wheel” dream since Sookie makes out with Eric and Bill just watches… The fact that she dreams about Real Eric is important. But it all happens during daytime and she can hear their thoughts so maybe this shows that deep down she wishes they were humans, not vampires. (what do you think?)
Sookie’s feelings for Bill can only be a result of her having his blood, because since the first episode of season 4 she has made it perfectly clear to him that they cannot be together and that something inside her is broken and cannot be fixed. I think finally she will come to her senses.
Eric of course is hurt by her words but I don’t think he will give up that easily now that he knows he can have Sookie if he plays his cards right, since she has feelings for him, she loves him, and she gave herself to him completely.
About Eric and Bill burning at the stake, it is possible that once they find out Sookie is held hostage by Martonia they offer themselves in exchange for her freedom and safety (remember the scene where Sookie finds the bomb in the books, with Eric and Quinn?).
In the end I think she will ask for some time, just to step back, breathe and think about everything. She will want to see what happens when the blood wears off, and with Real Eric now that he has his memory back. This will give him the chance to win her back, to flirt with her properly, not to blackmail her using her house or buy his way in using gifts. It will give us something to look forward to, for season 5
I agree. Sookie needs to be slapped from here to Sunday. The only reason she delivered that spiel on still being in love with Beeel is because AB has a gigantic fang-on for him. It was obvious, at least to me, that he strategically placed that storyline in there because HE’S so fantastically in love with Bill Compton. I agree with Eric: “HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE” that she is in love with Bill? I’ve been sitting here after watching the episode trying to comprehend her logic. I get it, it’s been like two weeks since her return from faerie land and Bill was her first and therefore she can’t just switch off all she felt for him BUT no rational woman in their right mind would consider actually running back to him after what he did. What do you do? You let yourself grieve the relationship, accept it’s over then you MOVE ON to the hot Swedish Viking vampire, who was the better choice in the first place. This shouldn’t even be a difficult decision! Bill is the past, Eric is the future. People don’t want to see the Sookie & Bill storyline AGAIN.
Now that I’ve *ahem* gotten that all out, I did enjoy the moment when all the memories came rushing back to Eric, and the look they gave each other afterward. Priceless. I did enjoy their talk as well, sans the whole Bill spiel. His name being brought up was like having ice water thrown in my face. At least Eric telling her he loved her soothed the pain slightly. I don’t think Sookie deserves Eric if she’s even considering running back to Queen Bill. There is much wrong and idiotic about this, I can’t even begin to explain.

I just found your site via Facebook and I want to say a big thank you. This is just what I needed after episode 10. I don’t know what shocked me more – Eric remembering and saying he loved her or Sookie ruining what could have been an epic TV moment with the Bill word. I tried to (politely) vent my frustrations on trueblood.net but the mod was having none of it – so it was great to come on here and be able to speak my mind and get it out of my system. I so want to slap Sookie right now for breaking the viking’s heart (watch him go into defense mode with her now)so reading the last line of your review made me realise I’m not completely insane after all. Thanks for doing this great site where Eric lovers are free to say what they really think!

If Sookie returns to Bill, she is a very ungrateful twit. Throughout the series, inspite of AB, Eric has put his safety on the line for Sookie, for no other reason than to have her by his side. Eric let himself be silvered by the Fellowship of the Sun to save Godric and Sookie. Bill did it to save himself from Antonia’s spell. Bill let Sookie get beat up so he could form a bond with her for political reasons, while Eric wanted to for a bond with her, just because HE wanted to not because he was ordered to do so. I personally hate AB obsession with making Bill the good guy.
OMG I have watched all seasons so far and i am p***ed what is up with all this Bill Bill Bill crap jezz we need Eric in this tv show a lot more Eric. I mean i loved the Bill and sookie at first but know people have seen the differences between Eric and Bill and ya Eric is the best
