How Will Season Four End for Eric and Sookie?

Okay time to take your best guess. How will it all end? No idea is too wild.. give your imagination wings! Come along with me while I flesh out my guess.

Here is what we know…

* TV Guide tells us that Sookie will choose between Eric and Bill and episode 10 seems to hint in that direction to.

* The teaser trailer shows Bill and Eric burning at the stake.

* We have a warning from Gran’s spirit warning Sookie not to fall in love with Eric as the situation would only be temporary. We previously thought this must be about the amnesia but Eric got his memories back and both parties established that it didn’t change how they felt (disregarding Bill for the moment). Either Gran didn’t know what she was talking about or she meant something else.

* Also from the teaser trailer we know Sookie and Pam are in hysterics during the last eppy.

* We have Alan Ball stating that main characters will die during the finale.

“It’s more than one death – people we know and love – and it’s pretty shocking.”

* We also have this tidbit from Alan:

“You’re going to think things are finished when they are not”.

* We also know from advance spoilers that Russell Edgington will be back next season. Who digs him up and for what purpose? While some sources have said he will not appear in the finale we did hear from AB himself that a despised character would make a terrifying comeback.

* We know from season three that Russell believed he could bring his dead vampire husband Talbot back to life. This is why he held on to that candy jar of Talbot goo.

So where am I going with all this? This is the thought that I had:

I think that it is quite possible that Sookie will have to choose which vampire to save at the stake. Her judgement will be clouded by the Bill blood she consumed and she will choose Bill. Eric will die. Gran knew this was going to happen and she tried to warn Sookie. Being racked with guilt and the realization of what she has done, Sookie will tell Bill she cannot be with him and say goodbye. She will be crying about this and about losing Eric in the scene we saw in the trailer. Pam will be mourning her maker. Sookie will remember Russell and his belief that he could bring Talbot back and she will dig him up or enlist help to dig him up so that she can somehow use him to bring Eric back to life for season five. And he WOULD be back.

All the clues fit together perfectly and it would be a totally shocking finale. What do you think? Crazy?

Have any finale theories of your own to discuss?

  1. WTF????????….oh my god…it is true? it is possible yes,and this i am afraid of…if eric will die it will be terrible for us to wait for season 5…i hope for something else…

  2. i hate to admit this .. but you are probably right… i have to say i was hoping that it was Bill that would dig him up because he was upset with losing Jessica and also trying to hold on to being King… but if anything like you said comes to past… then I will not have to watch next yr and to be honest here… that would kind of make me happy because the books are better ..

  3. Wow. Well, that certainly would polarize fans in the off season. It reminds me of Buffy. If Eric came back from the “undead”, would he still be a vamp? Would he still be the same? Idk… I’m thinking at this point it would be more shocking for Bill to die, whether she chooses Eric or not.

At this point, nothing would surprise me.

    • They could go that route to but I am thinking not since we see Bill alive and well AFTER the burning and comforting Sookie while she in in that red leather jacket. I don’t think the trailer shows Eric afterwards.

      • What about Jessica,, one spoiler read Sookie will save Eric, Pam and bill from a suicide march, it does not mention Jessica!! Is she inthe future pics?

    • Also I would rather, if True Blood goes this route at all, that Eric die and be brought back instead of Bill because it would put Sookie’s attention on Eric, and not Bill. It would be darn hard to watch though!

  4. They kill Eric. I cancel HBO.

  5. This is not how i want it to finish, I’m team Eric and I won’t watch season 5 if he’s not in it…so i hope he’ll live.

  6. viggolover1 says:

OMG!! Nooooo!!! I wouldn’t be able to wait 9 months waiting if Eric will be back or not…I will be devastated. I’m so nervous…and even if Eric comes back with Sookie’s help…I don’t know if he will be able to forgive her after choosing Queen Bill over him. I told my friend that they are going to kill Eric…she doesn’t believe it. AB keep saying that is a main character..that people will be surprise and in the recap of Sookie’s shot scene, he said that been a main character doesn’t save you in True Blood. He didn’t kill Sookie…we know he is not going to kill his precious Bill..SM said that season 5 is going to upset a lot of people…plus we are going to see how Pam was made. So can be that Pam is remembering or telling this to someone to remember Eric? And the season is going to be about demons too. I hope if Eric dies and he comes back he is not possess by one. Just saying. Good Lord I can’t take this anymore.

  7. oh my god ;/ she cannot choose bill ;/ it’s notlike in the book! why do they have to change everything! vampire diaries are the same, so as twilight; why the hell not tb ;/

  8. WOW, that would be a complete and total shock if they do kill Eric off, but I just can’t see them doing that. I have a feeling Sookie is going to have to choose who to save, but somehow use her powers to save both. But also Alan Ball is completely in love with Bill and Sookie and will find any means possible to have those two together in the end. The “vampire” that may die i think will be Nan. Also the other characters who may die could be Lafayette, we see Tara screaming at his door on the clip, (hoping not his character also), we see Arlene crying also outside Merlotte’s with halloween make-up on, could be Terry she’s crying about. Also book readers know what happens to Debbie, but will it happen in the show, and what about poor Hoyt? He could be killed off also all i know is it’s looking to be a kick ass finale!

  9. I love where their relationship is now. So Sookie can figure out her feelings next season and hoping for a were-tiger to show up.

  10. First time poster. I think that Sookie will choose Eric and that she’s saying goodbye to Bill in the tv guide pic and crying outside his door cause it’s a hard choice for her to make. Then I think Alcide will profess his love for her and Eric will see this, get jealous and beat him up. This would go along with her then regretting being Erics. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Eric and Sookie fan but he did seem possessive when he said Sookie was his. Oh and I also think Sookie will shoot and kill Debbie.

    • danielik25 says:

I think Jesus may die and Nan, because she knows about Sookie´s powers. I read that Tara is with Sookie when Debbie will come… Maybe die Tara, maybe Debbie or both… And I think Sookie will be single from beginning S5.

  11. I’m not thnkin that’s the way it’ll go. I’m thinking that Tara dies. They state in a preview that Sookie & tara are confronted by Debbie. Debbie shoots, & i think Tara jumps in front of Sookie to take a bullet for her & Tara shoots Debbie killing her……. there r no vamps around afterward to give tara blood……..or there r vamps to save her, but she won’t take the blood…….due to all that she’s been through. Tara dies & then u see sookie outside sobbing afterward……….As far as who Sookie will choose, who knows???? I’m hoping that she decides to be on her own for a while……then we’ll get to see that yummy sexual tension between her & Eric ………Charlene h always said she trusts AB to follow the same tone as the books…….if AB has Sookie & bill together then I reallly can’t see how CH would be ok with that? Guess we’ll have to wait & see

    • Good idea about Tara dying and Sookie being distraught about that.

I’m thinking that something bad must happen to Eric to prompt Pam’s hysterics.

  12. I think we can’t panic…..Eric is the main love interest in the Sookie Stackhouse novels. Sookie adores Eric with or without a “bond”. There no way the Viking will met the “true death”. Then there’s no True Blood.

Besides Sookie suffers a lot for Eric both emotionally & physically. She hasn’t experienced yet what she is capable of for love. Eric also struggles with is love & desire to be with Sookie while being a very powerful well respected vampire in the community. Bill is a precursor to Eric. Bill has nothing to due with E/S love which independently grows deeper as months goes by.

If anything…if he’s written like S3 & some books connection…Eric possible rejection (spoiler) is for her protection. Russell is out for revenge over Eric murdering is true love of 700 yrs….at that point in time Eric was in denial of his affection to Sookie but Russel was not. Now Eric is completely aware Sookie his possible the love of his over 1000 yr old life. He’ll sacrifice his life for her to be happy. Beside Eric doesn’t go down without a serious fight & as in the books he will kick you butty if you dare threaten him by using Sookie

Sookie if she choose Bill ….I will be one pissed off fan…I can’t see the reason why when it’s clear to us the fans Eric is a better vampire who has done nothing but protect & love her in the way he knows the best.

  13. Eric’s not going to die. I thought I read somewhere that AS’s contract was renewed for the next season? So he’s definitely coming back. It would be a stupid move on AB’s part anyway. Being a main character may not save you, but when it’s AS’s Eric Northman, you’re talking the loss of a gigantic fan base if you kill him off the show. He’s way too interesting of a character anyway. I wouldn’t WANT to kill him off.

That being said, if it does go down this way (Sookie choosing who to save), I will be PISSED if she chooses Bill over Eric. In fact, I don’t know if I’d be able to forgive her for that one. I’ve been annoyed with her in the past, but choosing Bill after all the crap he’s pulled might just be the final straw for me. There’s only so much stupidity I can take and Eric deserves way better.

I really have no idea how they will end this season though. I have a bad feeling us Eric/Sookie fans might not like it =/ Honestly, I’m still having a hard time understanding why Sookie wants to run back to Bill. I hope it’s just his blood talking. I was pissed when Sookie told Eric it might just be the blood that made her attracted to them when the E/S romantic storyline began BEFORE Eric gave her a load of his blood this season (those few drops in S2 hardly counted and only reinforced what she already felt). Can’t say the same for Bill who shoved a gallon down her throat the night they met.

    • I’ve had it with Sookie too!!! She drank Eric’s blood knowingly this time!! This Sookie is weak!!! Booooo!!! I hope she gets what she deserves… 0

  14. wow! .. it would be suuuuuuuper shocking i admit it :O and it would be great to see sookie trying to use her blood or some other fairie’s.. that could mean fairy war next season :) ! .. but i would be extremely sad if he dies.. even if he does come back (which he oooobviously will).. could it too be jessica :S ? the vamp who dies?

  15. Oohh, that is a good theory! I thought AB said in an interview that no vamps die (read this on another blog)?? I think the faeries come back and maybe Eric gets Faery zapped because he drank “Claudine”, but I don’t think he will die. I don’t think she ends up with either one of them, similiar to last season, and also fits with Dead to the World Ending. Although S3 finale was no where near the same ending as Club Dead. I think season five has the faery arc, similiar to the Dead and Gone and where Sookie and Eric finally resolve their feelings and reunite (and he marries her vampire style). I heard somewhere that TB may go on seven seasons. I really have no idea and more worried about Deadlocked, especially after reading a secret dialogue between Eric and Bill in The SS Companion book released today. Dialogue takes place after Bill drops Sookie off the night of Victor Madden’s assasination. I don’t want to post any spoilers and look foward to reading everyone’s opinion in that threaded discussion.

    • Omg!! I’m waiting for my copy!!! Can’t wait to read this!!!!! Is it bad or good???? Omg!!!!!!!!! Don’t tell me I’ll wait!!!

    • MrsCuriosity says:

Gina, i hope you would kindly enough to tell me what’s the secret dialogue about. I’m in Indonesia, would take several years to have it down here.
I’m dying…dying to know… I’ve googled it but seems like nobody has posted the review yet :( ((

    • I really hope CH doesn’t break up Eric & Sookie. I will be so disappointed. Not only my all the time wasted reading all books to hype me up only to flatted me like roach with a breakup with the best love affair in the entire series.

I love my “Eric” b/c he does know how to love Sookie in ways Bill or Quinn never have & finally Sookie see this after 11 books. It took them both serious time, kidnappings, torture & tons of death to finally admit they have a very true profound love.

DeadLocked is obvious about Eric’s inability to get out of this situation he finds himself in. This will be ugly b/c Sookie values Eric love above all else. He’s decision will hit deep down to both of them.

  16. I remember in see somewhere, Jason unconscious and covered in blood. Maybe that will be the reason for sookie regreting in choose bill. If she do that , she will totally deserve when Eric reject her, him will not put up with that shit, even loving her. Him maybe had gived himself completely , but him will not accept be the second best, him is a Viking king and that will hurt his pride. I honestly hope they will not kill Eric to have him bring back in the next season, that will be to much fiction to handle for me. But nothing surprise me anymore. Seems like Alan Ball got a trill in spit in Eric/sookie shippers face . But one can only hope.

  17. About the burning… in the shot of them it looks very much like Sookie standing there watching in that same red leather jacket with a long haired blonde woman beside her wearing pale clothes. On another fan site someone mentioned a casting call for ‘Maurelle’ who it’s been guessed is a fairy. The idea is that perhaps this fairy gives Sookie a dream/vision of this burning to see who she’d save and sort of decide who she really wants/loves. Obviously just speculation but just thought I’d throw that out there.

    • This would be awesome!!! I like this!! Let’s pray!!!

    • That is a very awesome guess. I would love for that burning part to be a dream!

      • And just to add to that there is a promo shot of what has to be a fairy light twinkling through the woods towards Andy (don’t ask me what they’re gonna do with that storyline) so I’m sure they’ll be around in Bon Temps.

    • if the burning part is real why can’t she save them both. and seeing Eric at the stake may help her decide in his favour…

  18. danielik25 says:

TB wihout Eric is for me about nothing. But I think AB isn´t so dumb, because AS makes high rating = more money for all.

  19. First time poster here. After reading most of the spoilers, I hate to admit that I think they will kill off Eric at the finale. The clues – in an interview Stephen Moyer stated that we will be very upset at season’s end, and that he was shocked that AB was “going to go that direction.” Other clues – Pam’s backstory next season. Why go to her backstory, unless she’s remembering her beloved maker? Ugh. I hate this. AB, you suck. I have to trust though, that Eric will be back. I can’t imagine a season without him in it. It seems as if AB likes to play the Eric’s dead card, because at last year’s finale, he had Bill pouring cement on Eric. And nothing happened to him. They didn’t even show how he got out of that circumstance.

    • Pam got him out as they went to the scene where Pam is talking about she will never get all the cement out of her hair!!

      • Thanks Liluhead! I missed that scene! :) I just watched the episode again last night and I did notice something promising. Sookie had that look (that same look when Eric went around the rug so he wouldn’t muddy it up) … Sookie had that smile when Eric told her that he did give himself to her completely – and that he loved her. Sookie looked surprised that he admitted that, and then she smiled. So hopefully, that means something good in the future. Crossing fingers and toes!

  20. God this making me very worried about this show, if they are going kill off Eric charater, because is very big the book and with the show, too. You guys can’t in the next with just flashbacks, because that makes no sense at all. If this charater dies, I just can’t watch True Blood again…Sorry! HBO and others:(

  21. I think they may kill off Eric…but then bring him back so many other shows have killed off a main character for a cliffhanger finale and then…. They return look at supernatural they killed off Dean and then brought him back from hell…I dont think that would be so bad it could also explain how demons come into next season. The thing that will make me sick will be if she runs back to bill…i was just warming upto him as he aint too bad without her.

  22. There is a Terrific Q&A section with Alan Ball in the Companion book. Book fans got right to the heart of their feelings about the differences between SVM and TB. AB was very honest (at least it appears) on why he changed certain points, specifically the maenad story (gave everyone in the cast to go up against.) But there is one question that many of us wondered:
Did the real-life relationship of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer diminish Eric role in favor of Bill. Mr. Ball answered that he didn’t really buy Eric’s role had been diminished because he had a stong story line in Season 2 and 3. But goes on to say “Maybe in terms of his relationship to Sookie…? You have to remember we’re in the middle of True Blood. It is on ongoing story.” That sounds promising!

  23. Whatever happens IMHO, Sookie will end up with Alcide this season or the next, I think they are not going to bring quinn (IHN) and maybe Alcide will play that part. Season finale will be she making something unforgivable to Eric, realizing what she has done, closing the chapter with bill and returning to Eric, which pushes her away so Alcide will end up consoling her… This is my bet!! We will see what happens!! I hope I’m wrong and she ends up with Eric or something more dramatic like Tiffanys story!!!

    • My guess is Debbie, Tara, Jessica, Marcus, Marnie, Jesus, Terry will RIP!! I dont want Jess or Terry to die but maybe they will…

  24. God I don’t know, but please don’t let Eric die I’ll refuse to watch the show. Please pls don’t kill him thats all I ask out of whoever dies….

  25. I thought of it, and i don’t agree, i’m gonna tell you why.. because eric killed talbot and let’s say almost killes russell,so it is almost clear to me that russell would not help to get eric back to life, maybe everyone else but not eric, so this thesis wrong to me;
i’m afraid that yes, eric will die and maybe in some magic way come back to us in the end of season fifth but i don’t think russell would help, i wouldn’t if i was russell ;)

    • Yes, that is highly plausible. BUT Alan Ball also stated that Russell will be different when he comes back. He made it sound as though Russell will be a changed man somehow… so anything is possible.

  26. Hey…what about Pam?
We all know that next season will show how was she created. Maybe is Eric the one who remembers Pam…? after she dies…
Pam cannot die! Cause I know if Eric dies he´s gonna come back, but with Pam there is no guarantee. A lot of people love Pam´s character (me included) but is not like Eric, she could be eliminated from the rest of the series without any problem :(

Sookie maybe trying to save Bill and Eric “forgets” to save Pam and that´s why Eric will reject Sookie. And she feel so guilty that she cannot back with Bill neither (and go to Alcide…maybe, in season 5 obviously, not now).

I dont want to see Pam or Eric dying. I only could tolerate Eric´s dead if Sookie don´t choose Bill before he dies. Eric dies and the last thing he saw is Sookie choosing Bill over him? too much I think. AB prefers Bill but he cannot be so stupid.
Eric could die, It would be interesting. Bill could be Sookie´s friend after Eric´s dead (she cannot be with him knowing that Eric is dead, so I think the guilt and her feelings about Eric could increase…that will be good if it happens) and then Eric coming back…without Bill in the way (too dreamy my idea, right?)

  27. Alan Ball would be taking a huge risk if he killed of Eric (even if only temporarily). HBO gives Alan a lot of freedom, but I don’t know if they would let them kill off one of their money makers.

The fact is viewers a large amount of viewers would stop watching the show if Eric died, and even if they brought him back to life you take a huge risk that some viewers won’t ever come back.

But maybe Alan Ball is ready to end with Season 5…perhaps he will kill of Eric at the end of Season 4 with the intent the show is ending soon.

But I guess think about this. If Eric dies won’t Sookie spend the majority of Season 5 feeling guilty? And perhaps (as suggested) try to find a way to bring Eric back to life? Could the writers feasibly develop a relationship with her and Alcide with THAT going on? No one would sympathize with Sookie–how could she try to bring back someone she loves while getting it on with another guy? I hope Eric does not die. If he does, Alan Ball has lost an avid fan.

  28. I don’t think she will be with alcide in season 5, maybe this new terry’s friend will be interesting;
in one of the interviews skarsgard said that “sookie is not interested in dogs”

  29. I DON’T WANT TO picture ERIC bein`killed off but knowin`AB and his hard`out hard`on for FUCKIN`BILL…he`ll do it…at this point i’m so freakin` pissed off at Sookie for turnin`down ERIC`s luv by declarin`her luv for bill still i’m just like watever, they jus`better do a freakin`awesome job of writing his story back in to TB next season if that`s the case n make SOOKIE work for every ounce of ERIC`s luv, if AB can even get himself to go that direction with the rest of his version of SVM…

  30. Alan Ball is not going to kill off Eric. Much as he loves to flip off the E/S fans, that would be shooting himself in the foot. ASkars is hands down the most sought-after actor on the show right now, I can’t see HBO approving any move that removes him from the series, even temporarily in a death-resurrection arc. That just doesn’t make good business sense.

I don’t think any member of the triangle of doom is going to die. When AB was hinting main characters were going to be offed, I believe he was referring to Tommy, and possibly Jesus and/or Tara. Those two seem the most disposable at the moment; their arcs have either already peaked or will very shortly, and due to their close association with Marnie at the moment, they’re in the most immediate danger. Holly could possibly kick it, too. She doesn’t have much going for her beyond this witch thing, unless you’re counting that pathetic flirtation with Andy Bellefleur a couple weeks back. So those three definitely seem the most at risk.

But of the three mains (Sookie, Bill, Eric) if one of them were to die, I think it would make the most dramatic sense for Bill to go. After all, at this point in the books, he basically becomes a non-entity. Charlaine gives him very little to do, and AB is trying desperately to keep him relevant, first by making him king and now by reviving his relationship with Sookie. It’s all just so terribly hollow, and if I had any faith in AB left, I would interpret this as Bill’s last hurrah. He’s going to go out either in the fight with Marntonia or in a conflict with NanFlan / the AVL / the Authority and AB’s just wringing out every last drop of dramatic potential he has left. This makes sense in the TB universe, too, as we’ve already seen with QSA that royalty tend to have very short life expectancies.

But, the jaded cynic in me knows AB will do no such thing. His Bill-shaped boner would never allow it. So we’ll get some lame minor character deaths (either Tara, Jesus, or Holly) a pissed-off Eric who retreats into himself completely, and a disgusting Bill/Sookie reunion. Well, hopefully not that last part, I actually think it’s more likely Sookie will wind up on her own, for whatever reason, but at this point I wouldn’t put it past AB.

    • WandersFar says:

Forgot to mention Hoyt. He’s just begging to be killed, too. In fact, Jason said as much last episode. “This?” *gestures between himself and Jesica* “will kill him.”

  31. I read somewhere, can’t remember where exactly, that eric and bill in the end will have to kill Nan because of what she knows about sookie

    • WandersFar says:

It does seem more and more likely Nan won’t live to see S5, unfortunately. Even if she’s not eliminated to protect Sookie’s secret, Bill already wants to take her out, or at the very least, report her to the Authority for her mishandling of the Tolerance event.

Shame, really. I enjoy her character.

      • I also like her character. She always makes me laugh with her prim and proper exterior but deadly interior. She is such a public figure, not sure how the AVL would explain her disappearance. Maybe they will blame it on FOTS.

      • Like Nan too!!!

  32. What if Sookie can somehow use her fairy powers to put the fire out or to unsilver Bill & Eric, thus saving both at the same time? No one, Sookie included, knows the extent of her powers, but they seem to be connected to her emotions. Seeing her two lovers being burned at the stake would certainly be an/a emotional moment/moments for her.

    • You got a point and also it would be lame if she were standing there watching her two lovers dying, with all her talk about using her powers etc, and do nothing!! After saving bill before!!

  33. Here’s my take on how season 4 will end.
Since the AVL has a bounty on Bill & Eric’s head. I think both will go underground.

Eric will probably go to one his many properties abroad while planning his next move (maybe he’ll hide out in Oland) and Bill will probably go to Peru!

Eric will give back Sookie ownership of her house before he leaves and reassures her that he’ll come back after he takes care of the AVL ( by bringing Russel back?)

Eric will leave Pam to “take care” of Sookie and Fangtasia, that’s why we she her crying/bleeds with Ginger consoling her.

Debbie Pelt will go psycho with Sookie and will try to kill her but shoots Tara instead.

  34. Here’s my take on what’s going to happen!

Episode 11 – With Sookie and Jesus’ help, the vampires are going to kill Marnie. (Eric is going to kill her by ripping out her heart or some kind of bad-ass. Eric way.) Marnie comes back and possesses Lafayette. As the AVL issue a kill order on Bill and Eric, which makes Sookie choose no one because they’re both dying. Somehow they escape or survive, maybe by killing Nan.
And when they think all is clear, Lafayette/Marnie raises Russell from the ground.
PS – Debbie confronts Sookie and shoots Tara so Sookie kills Debbie.

  35. First time poster here. I’m sorry but if they kill off Eric I’M DONE!!! I have waited 4 seasons to FINALLY see him and Sookie together. I think if she chooses Bill over Eric I’m also done. The E/S chemistry is what has kept me watching so far, (especially after Season 2 with that Maenad stuff), and if they kill him off, or break up him and Sookie, TB just won’t be the same for me.

  36. mrs. northman says:

When I heard “Just a kiss” by Lady Antebellum, I thought about Eric and Sookie and made a video about them with this song. Here it is:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Apt9I2x-2ic

I hope u like it. Thanks for watching ;)

  37. I see Sookie spending season 5 torn over her men, while her men continue womanizing. It would be a bad move to pick either so quickly. I heard that whoever dies was supposed to die before and didn’t, and was a “fan fave” on E! Jessica has twice been close to death it could be her, because what else is there to do with her. Or it could be Lafayette who has also been close to death. I would say Tara because she’s pretty pointless to the show, but is she a fan favorite? I can’t stand all her self centered drama.

  38. This line in an interview with Alexander Woo has me a bit worried: Eric, by the way, in the world that we’ve created is also now, as much as he sometimes hates her and as much as she sometimes hates him, he’s always going to be under her skin for the life of the series as well.

When did Eric ever hate Sookie? Is that yet to come? Yikes! Would fit with the Sookie choosing Bill theory.
